Services include ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) which is up to 36 times faster than the speed provided by a standard ISDN or dial-up modem connection. For organisations who exchange larger volumes of data, or have a network of offices with whom they need to communicate, the more powerful solution, SDSL (Symmetric High Bit Rate DSL), is used. This 'splits' the line into two high speed, symmetrical up and down-stream channels, at a maximum of 2Mbps in each direction. Suitable connections are provided, whether it is a simple Ethernet gateway and filter to your local area network complete with a firewall service; or a wireless router - allowing PC's or laptops with wireless adaptors to connect from distances of up to 100ft away; or indeed, VPN (Virtual Private Network) routers.
